Welcome to the Essex Jewish Community Council’s website.
Essex, together with North-East London, is fast becoming the place to settle and bring up families, its unique position close to the City and West End of London, excellent transport links, including the Elizabeth Line, a long heritage of vibrant Jewish life and culture and its proximity to one of the country’s most beautiful forests and some beautiful countryside make it increasingly desirable.
Jewish population is growing in areas such as Epping and Buckhurst Hill, Ongar and Theydon Bois, as well as Wanstead and Woodford, and with more established suburbs such as Walthamstow and Leytonstone in the process of regenerating.
The area has a range of Jewish schools, and Shuls representing the diversity of the community – together with excellent facilities for all ages, including youth and the elders.
In 2026 the area will become home for the brand new state of the art Redbridge Jewish Community Centre; originally in Sinclair House, the new centre will become a vibrant home with assisted living accommodation, as well as communal facilities.
Please contact us to make suggestions, to include your community or organisations, or with any other enquiry.
